We know that turmeric has remarkable healing powers for people due to its anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antiviral, antibacterial, antioxidant, and antihistamine properties, but did you know that turmeric is great for dogs too? Of course, not everything that’s good for humans is also good for canines, but turmeric and dogs is definitely a win/win combination!
Today I am reviewing Turmeric Curcumin Bites for Dogs. This product by Zesty Paws is a healthy addition to your dog’s daily diet no matter what age your pet is. Tumeric Curcumin is well-known for its potent anti-inflammatory properties, and chronic inflammation is the root cause of most canine health issues and diseases.
So if you give a young or middle-aged dog this beneficial daily supplement, you can be preventing potential health issues from developing in your pet. And if your senior dog is already suffering from health problems, adding this blend of organic ingredients to his or her daily regimen enables the dog’s body to heal itself naturally.

These turmeric curcumin bites are soft chews that are meant to be given orally to your pet on a daily basis. There are 90 soft chews in the container. The special blend of ingredients maximizes the curcumin extract of turmeric (95%), as well as the dog’s ability to efficiently absorb the supplement and all its health benefits.
The active ingredients per one soft chew are: Organic Turmeric ~ 400 mg. // Curcumin Rhizome Extract ~ 200 mg. // Coconut Oil ~ 420 mg. // Bioperine (95% piperine) ~ 5 mg.
These ingredients work together to support and protect joint health in younger dogs, as well as treat and relieve the symptoms of arthritis in older dogs. They maintain proper digestive health and function in younger dogs while relieving and soothing digestive issues in older pets, such as irritable bowel syndrome or inflammatory bowel disease. These soft chews given daily also support and protect a healthy immune system in younger pups, while giving a significant boost to a senior dog’s immune system, allowing it to identify and eliminate pathogens before they can do harm. Turmeric curcumin has also been proven to work as an anti-cancer agent for various types of tumors in dogs.

Thank you for sharing your honest review on the Zesty Paws Turmeric Curcumin Bites for Dogs. It’s really nice to see that the tumeric comes in different flavours and is given to dogs based on their size. I have a little dog of two years and I’m happy that I can help his health by getting this supplement. I think I’ll check with the vet first. Thank you so much for the help you have given here.
Hi Henderson. Thanks for stopping by and commenting on the review. It’s always an excellent idea to check in with your veterinarian before adding supplements to your dog’s diet. I hope the vet approves and you can start giving your little dog a treat each day while keeping him healthy and happy!

I cook for my dogs and nearly every day (as long as I have it in my kitchen) I add turmeric to their food. I have known about their benefits for dogs for a while, and my dogs are very healthy and they do not get ill. I didn’t know though that now turmeric is sold as a dog treat. And not only does it have curcumin, it also has coconut oil, which is a double win win 🙂 Both ingredients are incredibly good for their health.
LIke you said, Zesty Paws is a good brand, I also know them and I like them. I’m so glad I came across this review. Having these turmeric treats is definitely handy and beneficial. I’m going to get them for my dogs 🙂
Hi there Christine, and thanks for visiting and reading the review, and also for your great comments.
Actually, this Zesty Paws product is much better and more effective than adding turmeric powder to your dogs’ food bowls. The reason is that the curcumin content in turmeric spice powder is only 3% so a curcumin extract is needed to get the full range of health benefits.
Also it is not absorbed well by the animal’s body if given by itself. But the added ingredients of piperine (a natural substance in black pepper), and coconut oil increases the absorption by 2000%! And you’re right coconut oil is incredibly good for canine health too.

I agree, Zesty Paws is a great brand. Thanks so much for sharing your comments on my site and Thanks for visiting My Geriatric Dog!
Turmeric Curcumin bites for dogs ~ I had heard that turmeric curcumin is especially helpful for human consumption in supplement form, the curcumin being the active ingredient that acts to reduce inflammation and pain; however I didn’t know that it can help dogs as well, and dogs of all ages from pups to senior dogs. It’s good that the product comes on two flavors giving the dog more choice (duck and bacon).
The product seems to be well regarded by customers which is a good sign, the manufacturer are well respected the only drawback seems to be if you have a large breed dog they are not as economical.
Do you use the Zesty Paws brand for your own dogs?
All the best,
Fintan
I do indeed Fintan and it gives me peace of mind that not only am I helping my senior dog with his arthritis and other ‘geriatric dog issues’, but I am keeping my younger dog healthy and fit and preventing future health problems for her.
Yes, you’re right, Zesty Paws is a well respected company, devoted to keeping our precious pets happy and healthy. I’ve been using their products for years, always with a high degree of satisfaction and my pets agree.

Hello there, thanks for sharing this wonderful post. My buddy will be completing the 8th year of his life by December and I have had a great time with him all the while until he started having issues with his hind limbs; Since then we hardly play as much as we used to do. I’ll love to get him this product and with high hopes that it works for him. Best regards.
Hi Dane, thanks for reading my review and commenting. I’m sorry to hear that your good buddy is having problems with his hind legs. If the problem is arthritis, turmeric curcumin can definitely help him because its powerful anti-inflammatory properties, since chronic inflammation is the root cause of many canine health issues, including osteoarthritis.

I have two dogs a small shi tzu and a larger lab. I think the product may be good for my smaller dog. I am curious if this product is helpful for other conditions. My lab has a real bad problem with shedding. I have already tried a few things. Do you think turmeric could help with this problem?
Hello there Lee, and thank you for your comments and question. Turmeric can indeed help with other canine conditions. To find out all the great benefits that turmeric curcumin has to offer your pet, visit me at:

To answer your question about your lovely lab, turmeric can help with skin problems due to allergies because of its antihistamine and anti-inflammatory properties. Excessive shedding can be cause by allergies, a hormonal imbalance, or stress, but shedding is normal for many dog breeds including Labrador Retrievers. Unfortunately, you cannot stop a healthy dog from normal shedding, so the Zesty Paws treats will not help with this.
Get yourself a good dog brush and go at it twice a day. I guarantee your pooch will enjoy it!

Thank you for this great article. I had no idea that you could give turmeric to dogs, but it makes total sense! The first dog photo, of the dogs running and the little puppy next to the big dog is really nice. It shows that it’s nice to keep the puppy with their parents. Sounds like these zesty paws curcumin bites for dogs are overall a great product. Sorry if I missed it but do the dogs like the flavor? Thanks for the article and I look forward to reading your next one!
Hello there C and thanks so much for reading the review and commenting. Many folks are surprised when they learn that some herbs that have great health benefits for humans are also good for our furry friends. The Zesty Paws Turmeric Curcumin Bites are indeed a great canine product and I give them daily to both my dogs.
The daily treats come in duck and bacon flavor and I’ve never known a dog of mine to refuse either one!

Hello,
Seeing the article’s title, I assumed that this applied to ‘geriatric’ dog’s, but on reading further, you make it clear that it is good for dogs of all ages. My sister has a border collie in the late puppy stage who has been diagnosed with a hypersensitivity to foods, the actual diagnosis goes something like this: “chronic eosinophilic lymphphoplasmacytic enteritis…” My question is, would a product containing turmeric, like the turmeric bites you promote in your article, help with this condition in the long run? We are always on the lookout for anything that would help his condition, which is why we found your article so interesting.
Thank you!
Hi Michelle and thank you so much for your fascinating comments and question. Eosinophilic lymphocytic plasmacytic gastroenteritis is a form of inflammatory bowel disease in dogs. It’s a rare inflammatory condition that affects the lining of the animal’s stomach and intestines and usually causes digestive issues such as vomiting and diarrhea (which I’m sure your sister is well aware of).
I’m so sorry to hear that her border collie has been diagnosed with it, but hopefully it can be managed with diet and medication. Turmeric does have powerful anti-inflammatory properties and may very well help the puppy if given on a daily basis, but I would definitely not try it without the O.K. of the veterinarian familiar with the dog’s case.
